AVO MULTI MINOR MULTI METER, 1930's

AVO is well known for it's very solid and reliable measuring instruments.this unit was less expensive than the larger models, but unlike the Minor had a switch to change the range.

  • I believe the Printed Resistor is 113Ohms, and 10.4 ohms rings a bell, I used to repair this unit, Megger Instruments took over AVO, I am sure you can still get the resistor from Dowding and Mills Calibration Stockport, now taken over by another company, but they had many spare parts for this unit.I am sure they can help with a service manual copy. even Megger Instruments can I am sure.

  • I had one of these bought for me by my Dad For £10 in about 1957 when I was 15 to help me build circuits from Practical Wireless (Cam's Comic - F.J.Cam. That was a lot of money then. Unfortunately I had it on resistance setting when checking the mains many years later and as it did not have any protection it burnt out the printed resistor mat. Voltage settings still work but I have always wanted to restore it some how as it has sentimental value. So if anyone has any ideas, I would be pleased to hear them.
