GPO TELEPHONE 248 on BELL SET 39, 1930's

The 248 fitted to bell set 39, two extension phone replaced the bell set No20. The Bellset is designed to connect to one or two extension telephones. Incoming calls called an external bell and the extensions called the main view indicator and buzzer inside the Bellset.

• We had one of these phones as an extension to my Grandparents house when there were few spare available lines in the 1950's.We must have had a separate bell and there was also a hand operatedgenerator to ring the other extension. Very useful.
