Used in the tuning circuit of early wireless receivers and crystal sets for changing the receivable wavelength.

  • These were used in pairs, one fixed and the other on a swinging base that would enable the coild to be moved nearer or further apart from each other to help tuning by reactance.
    The coils have male and female connections to ensure correct alignment in the swinging holders.
