WW1 WIRE CUTTERS MADE BY CHARLES H PUGH

Wire Cutters used for removing barbed wire, usually in trench warfare.

This design was made by Charles H Pugh Ltd. Charles Henry Pugh (1840-1901) formed a bicycle company named CH Pugh. Later he and his two sons formed the Whitworth Cycle Company. Following their father's death the sons went public and renamed the company Charles H Pugh Ltd.

In 1921 Charles Vernon Pugh owned the Atlas Chain Company making motor driven lawn mowers that were named ATCO. During WW1 the company diversified making, among other items, wire cutters for the Military.
