STERLING PRIMAX INTERNAL TELEPHONE U410, 1920's

Sterling 'Primax' internal telephones for homes and offices. Required only two or up to ten units wires and a battery, a separate battery would have been needed to power these units it is unlikely that a mains power supply would have been available at the time when these were made. The Sterling Telephone & Electric Co Ltd started in 1899 until they were taken over by the Marconiphone Company in1926; they went on to make Sterling machine guns. See Item A0931 and A0955.

  • I just bought one of these, restoring it at present.should look nice when done. being a house phone, the dial at the top and needle now make sense, when turned to reach a certain number. each number a different room of the house. I imagine they were not cheap to buy at the time and adorned the walls of the richer household I feel lucky to have one, but, I expected them to be much earlier in date than the 1930s.A simple mechanism inside as you'd expect a museum piece.
