WWII BRITISH SHELL FUZE (FUSE) COVER

Shell covers were used to protect the fuze during transit, and in the early days of the war were kept and reused. This cover is marked as a souvenir possibly for the Fusiliers, Royal Artillery, or Royal Engineers.
The Germans used Bakelite covers.

Your comments:

  • Although similar in design the badge shown is not that of the Fusiliers, but a collar badge of the RA or RE.
Both RA and RE wear almost identical collar badges.
.......... Peter John Ritchey, Brisbane, Australia, 28th of July 2021

  • WW2 and used for the British No.199 MK.III time fuze.
