WW1 TOFFEE APPLE BOMB

Launched by a charge from a tube, this bomb could reach 500 to 600 Yards with devastating effect.
The Germans hated it so much that if a trench was stormed and evidence of this weapon was found , no mercy was given.

  • According to The History Channel series, America's Secret Slang (aired 5/12/2013),this weapon was the inspiration for an enduring figure of speech. Every time this weapon was fired at the enemy, the mortar crew would supposedly shout, "How ya like them apples?!"
