WW1 KEY FOR OPENING AMMUNITION BOXES.

This tool was used for opening ammunition boxes or powder cases, this was originally thought to be a fuze setting tool. Thanks to the commenter's who corrected this error .

  • I agree, it's a key for opening powder cases/ammunition boxes. There is one in my collection.

  • I recently stumbled upon your interesting web site and noticed this picture. I am not familiar with any such tool for the purpose of fuze setting. It does look remarkably like a key for a metal lined powder case of 19th century vintage. I have a photo of a 'sealed patent' of the powder case key which I will e-mail for comparison if you send me a suitable e-mail address. I also note that the correct spelling is fuze - fuse is an electrical safety item! Regards, Jim
